Visit to North Wales

Tuesday 5th - Friday 8th September 2017 (4 days, 3 nights)

Day 1, Tuesday 5th September
We stop for coffee at the Caer Beris Hotel, near Builth Wells and then on to Gregynog, the house that Gwendoline and Margaret Davies turned into an Arts Centre for Wales. Here we have lunch, a talk and an opportunity to explore the house.

We then make our way to the 4* St. Georges Hotel in Llandudno for 3 nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast. There will be a wine reception on the first evening.

Day 2, Wednesday 6th September
We visit Plas Newydd, the home of the 8th Marquess of Anglesey. The 5th Earl, Henry Paget is featured in the Spring edition of the National Trust magazine and a very interesting character.

In the afternoon we visit the home and Museum dedicated to Lloyd George at Llanystumdwy near Criccieth.

Day 3, Thursday 7th September
We visit the National Slate Museum in Llanberis where we have a talk about the Museum, coffee and lunch, followed by a journey to the summit of Snowdon on the Snowdon Mountain Railway.

Powis Castle
Day 4.  Friday 8th September
We make our way back to Cardiff calling in to visit Powis Castle, the home of the Herbert family which contains exquisite works of art from all around the World and the famous Whistler mural.

Our last stop before reaching Cardiff will be at the splendid Llangoed Hall at Llyswen near Brecon where we have afternoon tea. We will arrive in Cardiff at approximately 7pm.
The cost of the holiday for 2 sharing a double room is £430 per person, or £505 for single occupancy.

 Non members of National Trust - please add £20.30 for entry to Plas Newydd and Powis Castle.

Cost includes - dinner, bed and breakfast for the three nights at the 4* St. Georges Hotel in Llandudno; coffee and lunch on the first day and third days, afternoon tea on the final day and all entrance fees and gratuities.

National Trust members please remember to bring your cards. Also bring sensible walking shoes. There are a number of steps to negotiate at Powis Castle and Plas Newydd.
