The
Friends of National Museum Wales have arranged a tour of the prosperous
Friuli Venezia Giulia region in the North East of Italy. Much of this
area was ceded to Italy only after the First World War and is bound by
Austria, Slovenia and Veneto. We will be staying in the charming historical centre of Udine. Udine is a town with squares of Venetian charm such as the Piazza Liberta, ancient and colourful historical buildings and a medieval castle on the hill overlooking the town. In this region there are many historic towns where we can observe many periods of Italian art and architecture ranging from Roman to modern:
