Images: www.visitlondon.com

We are once again at that time of year, with Christmas just around the corner, when we should like to invite members of the Friends to join us on our annual visit to London. We set down once again in Knightsbridge at the Victoria & Albert Museum, a very central location where we find a variety of venues and an opportunity to enjoy some of the seasonal displays put on by Harrods, Fortnam & Mason, Harvey Nichols and the like, as well as the many museums and galleries located hereabouts.

The drop-off at the V & A offers the opportunity to attend a Mary Quant exhibition. Tickets to this event are 12.00 and can booked on the website - Concessions available. Other exhibitions at this time include “Cars: Accelerating the Modern World”, meanwhile at the British Museum “Inspired by the East – how the Islamic World influenced Western art” beginning in the 15th century and concluding with a 21st century perspective. Tickets 14.00, available on the website. A Royal Academy exhibition examines the work of Anthony Gormley, one of the UK’s most celebrated sculptors who’s best known work must be The Angel of the North in Gateshead. Tickets 22.00 on the web. Also showing “Lucian Freud: the self portraits” a collection of around 50 paintings, prints and drawings. Tickets 18.00 Concessions available on both events.
