| The Friends of the National Museum of Wales invite you to the Spring
Recital and Dinner on Friday 6th May 2016. The recital part of the
evening will be given by the young talented violinist Charlie Lovell
Jones, accompanied by his father Simon Lovell Jones on the piano. The
recital will commence at 7.00pm in the Reardon Smith Lecture Theatre.
We will move to the Grand Hall for the dinner. Charlie has been described as one of the most promising young violinists in the United Kingdom. He began studying the violin at the age of six and three years later won the prize for the highest Grade 8 examination mark on any instrument or voice for South and West Wales. Charlie has won numerous competitions including the Gregynog Young Musician Competition and the Urdd National Eisteddfod String Prize for Wales in his age group for the past six years. He was also awarded “Urdd Eisteddfod Scholarship” for the most promising young musician during the week-long festival and the Blue Riband Instrumental Prize for Under 16s at the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli. Charlie attends Ysgol Glantaf and will complete his A level studies this summer. He studies with the eminent violinist Rodney Friend, former leader of the London and New York Philharmonic Orchestras, and currently plays an important Italian violin made by Guadagnini from the distinguished firm J & Arthur Beare and loaned to him by a generous benefactor. Tickets for this special occasion are £44 per person, to include the recital and the dinner, with wine included. The event is also open to non-members of the Friends who may wish to come and bookings for tables of 8 or 10 places are welcome ; parking will be available in the Museum Car Park at the rear of the Museum. Dress: lounge suits for gentlemen. There will be a raffle held during the dinner.
